Maya Machawe
(Sohiela Ahmadi)
- Maya has been practicing yoga for over 40 years. As an Indian yogini, she was born to a yoga teaching tradition.
- She is a member of International Association of Yoga Therapist (IAYT), Canadian Yoga Alliance (CYA) and Yoga Alliance International.
- In 1986, she developed Cyclic Yoga, an art of sequencing yoga postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), hand gestures (mudras), energetic locks (bandhas), and cleansing techniques (kriyas) to maximize health benefits and energize both body and mind.
- Maya leads yoga therapy classes that incorporate techniques from Cyclic Yoga. These classes can be used as part of a complementary therapy plan to support physical healing and mental well-being. Additionally, Maya offers specialized yoga therapy programs for conditions like arthritis, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, and cancer syndromes. Beyond classes, she organizes seminars and workshops for professionals on meditation, detoxification, and anger management.
- She leads Teacher Training Classes and trains Yoga Therapist.
- Maya is author of reference books and many articles on yoga. She participated in the team research and submitted articles in International Congress.
